🔵FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Below are answers to some common questions about Obscurium, its functionality, fees, and plans. If you have a question not covered here, feel free to reach out through our community channels (Telegram or X) and we’ll be happy to help. Q: Is the estimate number of tokens I'll receive on obscurium.pro #TRADE accurate? A: The estimate you see is taking into account end to end gas fees, tax of the token (if there is one). It is unable to see into the future and predict potential price moves of the destination token, therefore you may end up with less, or more tokens that expected. However, you should do your own research and double check the expected number of tokens you expect to receive and if it is wildly different contact the team to address the issue. With millions of defi tokens, there may be instances where an error in prediction occurs which we cannot be held accountable to. Q: How compliance is Obscurium.pro with regulators and what is my responsibility as a user? A: Obscurium is a non-custodial dApp that offers transactional privacy. While wallet connections are not required, and transactions are obfuscated, we do not offer tools for illicit activity and discourage any unlawful use of our services.

Users are solely responsible for ensuring they act in accordance with local laws and regulations, including those pertaining to financial transactions, taxation, or fund transfer restrictions.

Obscurium does not collect personal data, conduct KYC, or store information that could identify individuals. As such, we cannot trace activity back to users — a benefit for lawful users seeking privacy, not a license for unlawful behavior.

We reserve the right to adapt our features and compliance measures to reflect evolving legal frameworks in the crypto and DeFi space.

Legal/Compliance Framework: Obscurium is built on the basis of the customer confirmation that they are acting in accordance with thier country of origin and utilisation: "Obscurium does not offer anonymity for illicit use; I confirm compliance with laws of my jurisdiction." Obscurium will endeavour to keep track with regulation and add additional user centric tools to support regulatory change.

Q: What makes Obscurium different from other privacy solutions or mixers? A: Obscurium is a comprehensive cross-chain privacy platform. Traditional mixers like Tornado Cash work on one chain and only mix one asset at a time. Obscurium extends the concept across multiple chains and supports various operations (swaps, transfers, trades, etc.) all under one umbrella. It’s designed to be fast and easy to use (no complicated setup or custom wallet software needed) while covering many use cases. Additionally, Obscurium does not require connecting your wallet or any account creation, which sets it apart in terms of user experience and security. Finally, Obscurium’s tokenomics ensure that usage of the platform directly benefits the community by feeding value back to OBSC, which is a unique economic model among privacy projects.

Q: How do I use Obscurium without connecting my wallet? A: The Obscurium web app will generate deposit addresses or instructions for each operation. For example, if you want to transfer funds, the app shows a one-time address for you to send your tokens to. You then manually send the crypto from your own wallet to that address (just like sending to a friend or any address). Because you are initiating the transaction from your wallet, there’s no “connect” step. It’s as if the Obscurium contract is your friend you’re sending money to – except that friend is going to privately pass it to your intended recipient. This approach ensures you never have to expose your wallet via a connect popup. The key for users is to carefully follow the instructions given (address, amount, memo if provided) when sending, and the rest is handled by the smart contracts. The interface provides updates on the process, usually via a unique ID or by checking the receiving address on the destination chain.

Q: What are the fees for using Obscurium’s services? A: Each service charges a small fee to sustain the network and reward OBSC holders. The fee structure can vary by service:

  • TRANSFER has a fixed fee of 2$ and 0.25%, similar to a DEX fee. This fee is typically deducted from the output or taken from the input amount.

  • Trade fees are the same, however you might incur slightly higher fee due to gas fees being higher for defi to defi swaps rather than simple tranfers. The app will always display the fee before you confirm.

  • Spark likely has a small service charge for each wallet funded (e.g., a few dollars worth of crypto or a percentage of the total funding).

  • Pay. The details of Pay are not yet released.

Q: Which blockchains and assets are supported by Obscurium? A: At launch, Obscurium supports Layer 2 chains as these are the commons assets users move. For the Swap feature, any Ethereum-based token with sufficient liquidity could be supported – early on, expect major tokens (ERC-20s like DAI, USDT, WBTC, etc.) to be usable in private swaps. As we quickly integrate other EVM chains, native tokens of those chains (like BNB, MATIC, AVAX, etc.) become available in Transfer and Spark. The Trade feature will support a combination of these – for example, trading an ERC-20 on Ethereum for a BEP-20 on BSC, etc., as long as liquidity is available. The roadmap includes adding more chains such as Polygon, BSC, Arbitrum, Optimism, and possibly non-EVM chains via special integrations. Always check the documentation’s “Supported Chains” section (or the UI) for the up-to-date list, since support will continuously expand. If you have a specific chain/asset request, feel free to suggest it in the community – we prioritize based on demand and technical feasibility.

Q: Is OBSC token required to use the services? A: No, you do not need to hold or spend OBSC tokens to use Obscurium’s privacy services. Obscurium is designed to be user-friendly: you pay fees in the asset you are using. For example, if you’re transferring ETH, the fee is in ETH; if you’re swapping DAI for USDC, the fee might be taken in DAI or USDC. This way, users aren’t forced to go buy OBSC just to use the platform. However, OBSC is deeply integrated in the backend as the value-capture token. If you believe in Obscurium’s growth, you might want to hold OBSC to indirectly benefit from the platform’s usage (since fees will be used to buy/burn OBSC or add liquidity, as explained in Tokenomics). In the future, OBSC could have additional utilities like governance or even discounts for holders, but at present, usage of the platform is inclusive – open to anyone regardless of whether they hold OBSC.

Q: When will SPARK, TRADE, or PAY be available? A: As of launch (mid-2025), SWAP and TRANSFER are live. The SPARK and TRADE features are planned to fast follow. PAY is a larger endeavor with external partnerships, so it is slated for an early 2026 release. Please note these are tentative timelines. We are committed to delivering features as soon as they are ready and safe. Our official announcements on Telegram and X will keep everyone updated on feature releases. The focus is on doing it right – for instance, Trade involves complex cross-chain logic, so we will run closed beta tests first. Rest assured, we want these features out as much as you do, and we appreciate the community’s patience while we ensure everything works securely.

Q: How private are my transactions with Obscurium, really? Can they be traced? A: Obscurium significantly enhances privacy, but like any privacy system, it has certain limits and assumptions. Transactions using Obscurium are extremely difficult to trace:

  • The protocol severs the direct link between your original wallet and the destination. All anyone sees is funds going into a pool and funds coming out to unrelated addresses.

  • We use strategies like mixing, pooling, and time delays to frustrate blockchain analysis. In our internal tests and using known analysis tools, Obscurium transactions are effectively unlinkable within the typical amounts and usage patterns. However, determined analysts or unfavorable conditions could, in theory, reduce privacy. For example, if you were the only person using Obscurium in a given hour and you transferred an unusual amount, an observer might guess (not prove) that the deposit and withdrawal are linked. That’s why we recommend following best practices: use common amounts, let some time pass, take advantage of Spark to seed new addresses, etc., to maximize your anonymity set. Also, be mindful of off-chain clues – if you brag on Twitter right after moving funds, someone could correlate that. Pure on-chain tracking via automated tools will be thwarted by Obscurium, which is the goal. We will continue improving privacy as well, possibly adding advanced cryptographic shielding in future versions. But as of now, Obscurium provides a level of privacy far beyond normal transactions, enough for the vast majority of users to transact without detection or linkage.

Q: Has Obscurium been audited? How do I know it’s safe to use? A: The core underlying code is not audited. We understand trusting a privacy protocol requires high assurance, so we are sparing no expense in getting the end to end process and testing teams working in house, with no single point of failure. For now, exercise normal caution: perhaps start with smaller transactions if you’re trying it out. Our team is public in communication should give some confidence – we stand by the security of our system and are continuously testing it. Remember that security is a journey; we will keep updating the platform to address any emerging threats and keep user funds safe.

Q: What if something goes wrong with a transfer or swap? Do you have customer support? A: Obscurium is built to be trustless, meaning ideally you never have to rely on human intervention. However, we understand that users might need help or occasionally a glitch could occur (perhaps due to network issues or user error like sending the wrong amount). If you experience a problem – say, a transfer hasn’t arrived even after the expected time – here are steps to take:

  1. Check the transaction status using the tools provided (for example, a tracking ID).

  2. Reach out on our support channels. We have an official Telegram group where team members and community mods can assist. Provide the details of your issue (transaction ID, etc.) privately to a team mod if sensitive. We will never ask for your private keys – be wary of imposters.

  3. In many cases, issues resolve with time (e.g., if the delay was just longer than usual). If there is a genuine issue (like a failed transaction or a contract bug), the team will investigate. Since the contracts are on-chain, any stuck funds can usually be located and, if a bug, the team would issue a fix or manual intervention via a secure process to release them. We aim to provide 24/7 support via our community channels, given the global user base. Additionally, an FAQ and troubleshooting guide (like this one) is maintained in the docs. Common issues might include using an unsupported token or chain by mistake – rest assured, funds are generally not lost, and we’ll guide you on how to recover or what to do next. In summary, yes, we have support, and you are not alone if something goes wrong. That said, by design the system is automated to minimize the chance of human error needing correction.

Q: How can I be sure I’m using the official Obscurium platform and not a phishing site? A: Great question – security starts with ensuring you’re interacting with the legitimate platform. To use Obscurium safely:

  • Only use the official website: obscurium.pro (and any subdomain or pages it directs you to). Bookmark this URL. Our team will share links in our official Telegram and on our X account – if in doubt, cross-reference links from those official communications.

  • The official site will never ask you to connect your wallet or ask for a seed phrase. If you encounter a site pretending to be Obscurium that asks for those, it’s fake. Immediately leave that site.

  • Look for our SSL certificate (the padlock icon in browser) and the correct spelling of the domain. Beware of lookalikes like “obscurium.app” or others – we currently use .pro for our official domain.

  • You can also verify the contract addresses. The official site’s instructions will involve specific known contract addresses (for example, the Ethereum deposit contract for Transfer). These addresses are published in our docs. If the address given by the site doesn’t match, that’s a red flag. We take phishing seriously and will warn the community if we find any fake sites. Always double-check if something seems off. When in doubt, ask in the community chat before proceeding.

Q: Where can I get OBSC tokens? A: OBSC tokens can currently be obtained on decentralized exchanges. The primary market is Uniswap (Ethereum), trading the OBSC/ETH pair. Always use official links or search on known platforms like Uniswap by the contract address (to avoid scam tokens). As for whether it’s a good investment – we cannot give financial advice. OBSC is the utility and value token of the Obscurium ecosystem. Its value is meant to grow with the platform’s usage (because of the buyback-and-burn model). If you believe in the future of cross-chain privacy and Obscurium’s role in it, you might find OBSC compelling. However, like all crypto assets, it carries risk and volatility. We encourage you to research, perhaps start small, and never invest more than you can afford to lose. Our goal is to drive real value to OBSC through platform adoption, but market prices depend on many factors.
